Ok my back is killing me because I had nowhere else to do this but on my bedroom floor which painstakingly took me 3 or so hours to rewire everything along with a little bit of dusting and better management of the wires in the case! And thats not including the 5 minutes it literally took me to take the entire thing apart lol.

But no for real, from the beginning of suspecting a hardware issue was at fault, I probably spent a good 10-15 hours on this including the testing of components to figure out where the problem was.

So there you have it, everything seems to be working excellent upon first glance. I just need to fix BIOS settings since its stuck on POST looking for a floppy drive right now. Gosh, computers are so dumb - YOU DONT HAVE A FLOPPY DRIVE lol.

Does/is nebody available to celebrate my victory over OCZ's PSU with some BF2?

Speaking of which, its time to read up on my PSU from OCZ to check if its under a manufacturers warranty seeing as how its been less than a year and its already failed.

Again, thanks to the people who tried to assist me and gave advice, especially Alex and Tomeis.

Now if you excuse me, I really need to lay back on my couch. Errr shlt, I have no sound... Need to hook up speakers first. Ok see you guys around.

Thats ok Tomeis, you didnt really do anything to actually help me other than someone to talk to while i ironed out my final desicions and let's face it, once someone is determine about something, you can't change there mind.

Yea I ended up getting the cosair psu and my OC was a bit unstable so I'm back down to 3.4 until I feel like playing with the voltages more.

However I don't think I'm out of the woods yet... The bios is randomly reseting itself again between boot ups. It pretty much fails to detect anything SATA, like the CMOS seems to think the board only has IDE Slave/master. After a reset to defualt settings and a reboot it usually sees the SATA drives but for me to actually start the computer I need to do another restart (3 in total) in order to get the computer running.

So I'm guessing my mobo may be f'd.. I need to make some time to save all my stuff to a removable HD and format all the drives to see if that will help as well as flash the bios I guess. :: sigh :: time consuming...

Im currently in the process of a mass computer clean up, i started my laptop yesterday and im doing my windows desktop today then finally moving on later this week to getting my server fixed up... so i know how you feel.
Im doubting your plans will help with any pre-windows errors. To my knowledge, bios gets hard drive information from onboard firmware and stuff not the actual disk itself.
Try updating the bios and putting a touch more voltage through the southbridge before you do anything else drastic as that might be your best bet.

Actually, the first location of Windows on the hard disk is actually taken from another location on the HD :p

When the BIOS starts, it looks to the hard disk for the master boot record and file allocation table (hence the term FAT). Think of it as a bootloader.

The BIOS loads in a basic version of the OS kernal and then uses the MBR and FAT to look for the first locations of the Windows files.

I think the MBR is always at the same HD address and thus, doesn't differ from disk to disk.

but that wouldnt effect bios actually reading the disks before it begins to load the MBR. My understanding of his problem is bios doesnt even show up the SATA drives when he starts up.

I didn't say it made a difference, i was merely correcting your statement

Although, i'm kind of confused. I seem to recollect that bootstraps that had HD boot information were held in EEPROM chips on the motherboard itself, so maybe you were right to an extent.

but i wasnt talking about bios reading data from the disk i was talking about the basic disk info that you get when you look in bios for example

Or whatever it says, i havent memorized it.
This stuff can be read when all the disk is completely blank. Wouldnt it only be actually stored in your EEPROMs if you actually set each hard drive channel to specific hard drive rather than leaving them on auto detect?
