Ok sorry for the whole whack of threads popping out here and there over the last week but everything seemed to be a different issue and as time goes on its changed soo... the finaly thread for my problem finally is here (hopefully lol)!!!!
So I took apart my entire pc and plugged in a much weaker power supply to see if I get POST and success I saw that my BIOS reader was flashing all sorts of codes but the PSU was far too weak to power my gpu to run display.
After that I then tried to use my 700watt ocz psu again and once again, no go. The bios continues to read "- -" with it as well there seems to be no display... (me hopes I didn't break my pcei slot or something?!?!)
And what do you know, now after fiddling around with it for a few minutes with the ocz psu that I believe is defective, the computer is now shutting down on its own right after I turn it on.
So I'm just looking for a quick "Yes, Beeg you are right about the psu now go buy a new one!" comment and perhaps an idea as to which one I should get or should I just stick with OCZ and buy another one?
Also, would I be ok to downgrade from 700 watts? I don't plan to go SLI or upgrade my video card at all. Things to power:
74 gb raptor
300 gb maxtor
1000 gb seagate
3 x 120 mm case fans
1 x 240 mm case fane
2 x 80 mm ram fans
1 x 80 mm mobo chip fan
1 x 120 mm cpu fan (zalman 9700)
SATA dvd burner/writer
IDE DVD reader
Creative Fatality sound card 5.1 or 7.1 not sure. Has front panel for intrument input
8800 gtx 768mb
evga 680i mobo, 122-ck-nf68-ar to be exact
4 x 1 gb pc8500 ram
Then of course usb ports for mouse and keyboard and what not.
I believe the max output of my psu is 18 amps/680 watts
Need to know quickly, I want to buy a psu before the store closes by 8pm EST (6:11pm now)
Cosair:
OCZ 600:
OCZ 700:
Thanks for you're time and help everyone =D
