    nuked my eah4870

i cant belive it i actually ithink i nuked this card LOL

guys i got bios editor and edited the hard coded bios in the 4870 so that i could manually have the fan run at 40% and for some reason after i did a full system power off and on it wont work now ..
it wont do anything but look pretty on the desk..unless alex or someone has a way fixing this..i searched and only found that u have to buy another 4870 and swap them out..

i tried on this pc with a nvidia card installed and the 4870 in the other slot and it wont even post...
so then i tried on a pc with onboard video...it wont post it says i have a secondary card installedthat i must unplug the cable from the onboard and plug it into the dam card...
man i cant fix this myself i hope someone can help out thanks,,,,

Can you put it in a PC with a different, primary ATI card?

BIOS editing is risky business :|:

Why didn't you just use the fan controller in CCC and then save it as a profiile?

        Re: nuked my eah4870

I think i read an article about this problem, normal BIOS editing doesnt work because the header of the DDR5 memory is alot longer than DDR3 >512 bytes this causes the new setting to not be complete when it is saved, which means the memory on the card will not boot

Youll need another card type put it into the pci-e slot then put the 4870 back into it, ive never tried this but ive been told this resets the graphics card's bios to default.

if you cant get hold of another pci-e card try to contact the store you bought it from as a lot of countires have a 12 month warranty as law, if your card is not under warranty (you have broken it or its expired) by either the store or manufacturer (Asus, Sapphire etc) you can sometimes explain the problem to the manufacturer and they will fix but it will cost you.

My days of playing about with cards like this is over after i burned my 7900gs with a 'pencil mod' that went wrong sometimes hardmodding doesnt work out and you have to accept that you ****ed up and buy a new one or live with integrated graphics

sent the card back to asus for fix..they said no problem, many cards we have been getting lately are due to bios issues updating and so fourth, just send it in and well fix it and get it back to you asap...so i sent it in and and im expecting it next week or so..
but i will say this..now that i got my 9600gt back in the rig..i love the card no spooling up all the freking time with that monster fan noise LOL
