    hard drive detected but not?

So I bought a 1 TB seagate hd today and installed it, I can see it and verify it in the BIOS and post screen but on the OS I have no access to it. I can however, see it in the device manager under the HD catagory but fails to give me any verifications such as volume space.

I personally think I saw a "lock switch" on the HD and wonder if thats the reason it is not working like those security features to stop data from being overwritten on some memory sticks.

Neways, do you guys know what the deal is?

xp - start, run then type diskmgmt.msc

Vista i think its in start - all programs - accessories but you should be able to do the run diskmgmt method too.

If it shows up there then its fine you just need to format it, which you can do within that app :)

omg thanks, I thought I had to format it in the very beginning but I couldn't remember how to get to that page. Now it works, awesome.

Only lose like 69 GB @ 1 TB. Sweet, was expecting something like 150GB lost.
