Is this kind any better or worse than what you see on most reference boards, the type that covers the entire board? Like these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowIm...d%20-%20Retail

The 4830 cooler doesn't cover the RAM, but it's covered with a copper heatsink (I assume the that's whats under the heatsink to the right). Do the fully covered coolers cool the entire board better?

It will be noisier for one thing. The fan has to compensate for the lack of metal that heat would usually dissapate too.
