If I wanted to send a large file (1-5gb) to someone over the internet what is the best way of doing it (for free)?

Yeah, I'm not sure how to set up torrents but I could imagine it being a good way of doing it.

As long as you continue seeding, your friends could download it off and on whenever they want.

If you both have Azureus, you can just press "File > New Torrent"

Fill in the stuff and choose "decentralised (Vuze only)" tracker

I think Skype can send files directly from your computer to your friends', without having go to a server first.
