its old doesnt mean its dead :P my friend still games on dual 7950GX2s.
Neways if you are upgrading from an old car yeah pretty much go with the 48 series, a p45 board, and a q66 aint that bad although i would personally recommned a C2D E8400.

I prefer asus motherboards although i have hear their customer service is a bit poo, for me this is no issue as scan deal with asus so i just take it back to them. The P5QL-E is pretty goodLeave a comment:

No on the water cooling. Though I do recommend a fan and not to use the stock one. Mine kept popping loose. I have it overclocked to 3.0GHz.
8800GTX is good, but I personally like the 8800 GTS 512. I think the GTX is a bit overpriced, but thats just my opinion.
Gigabyte boards are OK, but I love Asus

Upgrade Time
Basically im looking to upgrade my PC specs this weekend and just want a general view on the rig im looking at getting, and anything people would do differently so as to help me out.
Q6600 Intel Core (Will this need liquid cooling?)
8800GTX (Not sure whether to go higher)
Gigabyte Motherboard (still looking)
Any help much appreciated.
