asus EAH4870 8X AA issue

hey guys,
for some reason this card or game have you, will not let me do 8xAA in battlefield 2142...

ive maxed crysis and many other games no problem...
i see it working on all my other games cod4 etc etc, ..

Ive restarted the game, computer, everything, many times...

reloaded shaders, reinstalled the game even, etc etc...

so this is what happens every time in game, when i go to change it to 8xAA because its stuck on 4xaa,
it tells me that the shaders need to be optimised by loading a map and the game must be restarted..
and i have loaded them over, and over, it does not fix..
anyone know how to fix this..??

you wont see a big differense betwen 4x and 8x, so just stick to 4x

Might be a game bug as i cannot also set 8XAA but as mentioned above, you wont really see a noticeable difference.

It's a game bug - you can fix it with some editing of files but quite simply it's not necessary as you won't see a difference and all it will do is decrease performance (not that you need that anyway with a 4870)

Force it from CCC, all cards get the 8x 2142 glitch.

i did not try bf2 ...
and a new issues now, it seems that this 2142 wont do 1280x1024,
only 1024x768...
1280 is not even an option..
is there a way to foce it to 1280x1024?

the in game drop down does not even list that 1280 at all its goes right too 1200 and 1600 and so on i wana use 1280...

Weird, 8xAA on BF2 works :|:

8xAA does work on BF2142, it's just an error in a config file that "blocks" it and set it to 4x AA instead.

http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2142_9.html << how to change your resolution with 2142 without doing it ingame. It's weird how you can't choose it by default though, because it's not a widescreen resolution
