I got this malware crap earlier this week.
For those that don't know, it's a malware/spyware that poses itself as a Anti-spyware program that pretends to find all sorts of stuff wrong with your computer and then wants to charge you to delete everything, including stuff you don't want deleted.
Well, I didn't fall for it but had a real hard time getting rid of it. It was blocking my internet, so I couldn't download any programs to delete it and the programs I already had (Spybot and Threatfire) wouldn't work right.
I managed to burn some programs on a dvd at work and finally got rid of the "Anti-Spyware" but here's my issue:
Somewhere along the line a bunch of my games & programs I had installed got wiped out.
CoD
CoD-UO
CoD2 (my config is still there... go figure)
Cod4
XFire
Teamspeak
Logitech Setpoint (no loss there =P )
...some others I can't think of right now.
The Programs I ran were:
ThreatFire
Windows Defender
SpyBot
Malwarebytes anti-malware
AVG 7.5
AVG Anti-rootkit
Spyware Doctor
Eusing Registry Cleaner
...and after all that I had to re-install Internet Explorer
So my question is: Where the hell did my games go ???
Did one of the above programs wipe them out or are they there hidden somewhere??
