TBH, it would be pretty pointless to move from and 8400GS to an 8600GTS, since the latter card is also woefully underpowered.

It's 20 bucks lol. Last time I bought a 20 dollar card it was a 128mb 7300LE with turbocache while waiting for the 8800GT to be restocked.

My 8600gt seems to play FC2 on medium settings with 30fps at 1280x1024 quite well...I'm not complaining.

for $20, it would make a great backup card, if you don't have an old x1950xt hanging around.

also, if you're usually broke and barely plodding along with dell/hp etc. integrated graphics, then an 8600 for that price makes a lot of sense. i wouldn't get one, but hey.

its a GTS so they still need a PCI-E adaptor meaning they wouldnt be a lot of use with an old dell or HP machine unless it has an existing card. Or do most dell PSUs come with the adapter anyway?

molex - pcie adaptor might come with the card. it did with my x1950xt, my hd3870, and my hd4870. if not they're like $.47 + shipping.
