Need help

A while ago i bought Assassin's Creed for the PC and on installation it stops at the same point every time and says it has to quit.
It has an error message saying:
NewFeature1
E:\data4.cab
Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

I have looked into this and have found that A LOT of people have had the same problem.
One person said a way of fixing it was to copy the files off the disk and the install it from your Hard-Drive.
When i attempted to do this it would not copy the file 'data4.cab' which is the file causing the installation to fail.

Another person said a way to fix this problem is to lover your disk drive speed or something similar using some sort of software or something, but i do not know how to do this..
Any help would be much appreciated.

Also, don't suggest taking it back and getting a refund, it was ordered off the internet and when i reported the problem to them they said keep the game and we will refund you, which they later did.

Broken disk. If it wont copy off, it means it's corrupt somehow. Probably a bad disk batch.

dumb question, but have you cleaned the disk?

also, you can get some hiccups with large files depending on what you have running in the background. try doing this:

start-run-msconfig-startup-and turn off everything that isn't absolutely essential

start-run-services-check tab that disables everything but ms services
^er, not 100% sure that works--might try my computer, administrative tools, services shortcut

reboot and confirm NOTHING "extra" is running in background, esp antivirus (may want to disconnect from interwibble for a bit), anti-spy, firewall, and malware like quicktime, wga (if possible), real, etc.

if that doesn't work, then ya--it's a likely a bad disk, but i have been able to install some programs that were throwing up disk errors doing either a clean disk or clean boot.
