Identifying RAM....

I need to know what kind of RAM a "Packard Bell iMedia 1307" takes (exact sort, not just DDR2), but I dont know where to find the specs (I've searched the internet and havent found anything).

any ddr should work as long as voltages are compatible. faster will downclock, slower will downclock the faster.

Dood. Where I live it would be cheaper to buy a cheap mobo and 2GB of DDR2 instead of 1GB of DDR.
I got 4GB DDR2 (2x2GB) for $60 but 1GB DDR was almost $120.

Run CPU-Z, look under the SPD tab for more exact RAM specs.

also, take a minute and make sure your bios will support the amount of ram you're looking for. i tried to upgrade little brother's emachine (long time back) from 256 to 512mb and the hardware/bios said eff you to the latter 256.

granted, that's ancient history (days of pc-133), but still.

I know it supports atleast 512mb, as when we bought it for my dad about 4 years ago PC world said they'd upgrade it (+256) for a small fee. However upon opening it I still only find 256mb of RAM :0 .

Sticking a £20 1 gig stick in isnt going to harm it is it? It'll just "take what it can" from the gig?

Also how do I know what the voltage of the current RAM is? edit:I'll check that tommorow with that program wizard posted.

I ask alot of questions :p
