    Music, Downloads, etc

What is the best music download software/site? (Payed for) I know iTunes is very popular but do they still have the thing that stops you from putting one track onto another MP3 player? There are various other sites, but who can recomend what...

The problem I see with the iTunes 1 player thing is that if you lose that player you can't put the music onto another one. Or I could be mistaken.

I just want to try it out and see what download speeds I get.

No need to talk about where I got music from originally

With I-tunes you can always download the track again if you lose your install/file however you only have a certain number of licenses. They get restored back to you after 6 months if you do happen to lose one. I think you can only use Itunes files on Ipods though.

I know play has a download service and so does amazon. Another one i use occationally is bleep.com but thats quite obscure music that you probs wont be into

      I just tried play.com

I got my max download speed which is good to know. Plus it's cheaper than iTunes (79p)

      65p for a track.

I second amazon; cheap, good quality, and DRM free.

amazon downloads for as long as they can keep going. there is honestly no telling what drm-infected downloads are broadcasting from your pc until it's aired out, i.e., sony drm rootkit malware.

I don't think you can, unless you contact their support people who can make the re downloadable, unless I'm missing something.

Just go on your old comp and copy over the itunes folder in your music folder. Then when you go to play one of the songs it will ask you to grant that machine permission, accept and put in your user name and password.

                  This thread reminded me of:

Make sure to remove the permissions from your old machine/install before you wipe the hard drive/reinstall :)

actually, with iTunes you're essentially "renting for life" you never actually own the music.

Personally, I go for Amazon when I need to buy music.

do itunes really sell like 128/256 kbps tracks or 99$ ? I know amazon does, thats freaking pathetic, if your gonna pay anything get high quality at least in 320 kbps, gonna take at least 20 mb per tune but its worth it. Especially when we have 1.5 TB hard drives everywhere

i used my friends zune pass and then used to a program to rerecord the music so it was drm free...worked great until he booted me off of his registered computers D:
