Radeon HD4870

so guys which is the best one to get?
i cant afford the x2 card so the 4870 is what i was looking at..
is the sapphire any good?
i see msi...i dont know which brand to get ..there is asus and some others..
which is the best to get?

is it worth the wait till the next cards come out ??? im unsure..
i just bought 9600gt few months back..
slow card..im gunna sell it...if anyone has some input plz tell....

depends on what resolution you play.

i run 1600x1200 with a 4870, all max settings in most games (2 or 4x AA, shadows get some tweaking).

mine is a visiontek 512mb, btw. as far as high-end price/performance, 4870's are tops atm.

hopefully, nvidia will answer with something besides axing their partners soon, to keep up the competition.

I've always bought sapphire but now I use a vistiontek 3870 and it runs fine!

Yes. Visiontek and Sapphire are both very good ATI Producers

they all come from the same factory anyway, its the warranties you should be looking at!

ATI are better if you like AA and AF but if you game with these off you will get better performance with Nvid

Are you serious? Why would you even make a statement like that? It makes no sense. Anyone buying a high-end card will want to crank AA and AF to get the best image quality possible. Why spend $300+ on a GPU and have games look like schisse?

Yeah, and with AA and AF, which anyone would want to turn on if they could with playable framerates, the AMDs out-perform the Nvidias. So for framerates at serious resolutions and serious settings, AMD is winning right now.
More FPS at higher settings, which is where it really matters.
Who cares about getting 125 FPS at 1280x1024 with no AA or AF? I'd rather play at 1920x1200 with 8xAA and 16xAF and get 60 FPS instead of 40. My monitor can't display any more than 60 frames a second anyhow, so anything above that is wasted power. I'll be switching to a 4870 1GB as soon as I can talk my wife into it. She wants my 8800 GTS 512 anyway, so it shouldn't be all that hard.

Whilst a monitor runs at 60Hz, having the graphics running at a higher fps is good for stability. I know most people aim for a steady 125FPS on COD4. I personally dont give a damn about fantastic graphics its the gameplay i go for. Im not arguing with you that ATI isnt the way to go im merely explaining a fact i believe to be true, take it as another reason to buy the ATI card if you so wish.

thankyou everyone for so much feedback..i have been reading a lot of reviews...and since i have the asus p5k motherboard i think getting the asus version of the card may be better ..it seems the comments on the card are a little better also...asus = quality etc etc..
so what do you guys think of the 1 gig asus card???
