For some reason when I initially start up my pc it freezes... Like totally.. I have to press the restart button.. It doesn't happen straight away.. It could take anywhere between 5 minutes to an hour. Once it has frozen and I restart it it's fine.. It only happens after I first turn it on.. What could cause this??

Also another problem Which I'm having (could be related) Is when My pc attempts to wake up from sleep mode I get the BSOD with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or something like that up the top..

Then when it restarts this is whats written in the "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" box..

It's most likely due to your second hard drive. You can either refresh bios or unplug your old 320GB. For some reason I have this problem from time to time. Not big deal actually. It's most likely a bios bug.

Hmmm well that's good news at least :p I was thinking it was faulty hardware or something.. Thanks heaps mate

EDIT: ARgghhh! Just now It froze AGAIN! after I have already done the restart thing.. So now it's just randomly freezing >_>

I have the same issue, but very rarely. I know it's because of my HD, but because it happens so rarely and randomly I'm not sure how to fix it unless I buy a new one (which I can't afford atm)

Yeah I leave my pc on a lot.. sometimes up to 5 days without shutting it down once and it works fine.. Soon as I shut down and start up again it starts randomly freezing.. quite annoying

have you tried updating bios? made sure all drivers and windows updates have been done?

I haven't updated the bios I don't think.. All the usual windows updates are done though. Is it hard to update the bios?

Asus board according to your 'my system' that correct? There should be an asus facility which can do it through windows, if you would rather do it in the actual bios stage then i think asus uses something called EZflash. Check out the asus website

IRQ are hardware problems. Try switching out RAM, using one stick a time to see whether that makes a difference.

Do try updating your BIOS.

Have you added any new hardware recently?

Well I'm going to do a 12 hour memtest tonight before I go to bed..

I have had problems with this thing since I bought it and since then have changed Mobo, Gpu, PSU, Heatsinks (3times), Hard drives.. Since putting this gigabyte mobo it's been alot better except for these two problems.. But like I said once it has settled down I can have it on for a week straight without a freeze..

How do I update my BIOS? is it just a download and install like the chipsets?

Have a look on the gigabyte site, they probs have a utility to update bios using windows. If not you will probably have to put an image (or "ROM") file onto floppy or usb drive and use some kind of utility within the bios itself. Its hard to say as i dont know what board you have but im sure if u hop onto the site or look in your manual there will be info telling you how.

For Asus, use the Asus EZ-Flash tool found in the BIOS. You'll have to load the BIOS (which should be a .rom file) onto a USB pen. Then, enter the BIOS, the EZFlash tool is usually on the last tab, the one before "exit". Go from there.
