I've been having all sorts of issues for the last few days with Steam, which just seems to crash on me all the time. It's OK when just steam is running, but whenever I Launch a game from it I get CTDs at random points, This can range from when I reach the menu screen to just spawning or even having played for half an hour or so, and it's really getting on my nerves now. What is strange is that it affects all games; HL2: Deathmatch, original Counter Strike, Portal (this wouldn't even load before... checking the integrity allowed me to make progress t crashing after 20 mins or so).
The manner of the crash is also inconsistent; it can take the form of "HL2.exe stopped working", or the screen might just freeze up. I've tried closing all other applications, and that doesn't help (I'm on Vista HP 64bit). I can't figure out for the life of me what the problem is, but want to get it fixed before I put down £25 on the Orange Box, as I don't want to have that fail on me.
