Q6600 SL9UM V. SLACR...worth a fight?

So I picked up a Q6600 that was advertised as being an SLACR (G0 stepping, out in 2007) on ebay for $160. It got here today and it's clearly an SL9UM and was mfg'd in 2005. So not only did I get a 3 year old processor instead of a one year old one, I'm also getting less desirable power and thermal characteristics out of the B3.

Just how much worse are the B3's than the G0's? Is it worth fighting with the company over it?

Depends whether you intend to overclock or not. If you do, I'd say definitely.

Even if there was little difference, you received a different part than you intended to. I'd say go for it.

Do you have the CPU? Is it retail? If you got just the bare CPU, I'd say OC it and see how far you get. If you're not satisfied, then try to get the G0.

This isnt like a Macdonalds burger where in the pic you see a gourmet masterpiece then then you open the box there is a greasy sloppy mess, but it doesnt matter cuz its only gunna last 3 minutes. This is a product you payed for then recieved something totally different, and you gotta live with those differences indefinately, contest it mate!

SEND IT BACK!!! My friend bought that q6600 and we tried to overclock it and at 2.7 ghz we were hitting 75C+ with a $50 zalman cooler!! Complete trash!!!

If you got something from eBay that is not what described on the ad, then return it.

There are some people on that forum says that overclocking Q6600 is motherboard dependent. Same CPU can perform from 2.6 to 3.5 on different motherboard. I'm not sure what is the cause, but 2.7MHz overclock doesn't look much better then Phenom. Since Phenom's overclocking is motherboard limited, same might apply to Q6600 G0 as well.
