Monitor, need help, to much numbers,

    Hi,

i'm planning to buy a new monitor. But I have somme questions.

I can choise between HP and Samsung monitors:
I think i'm going for a 22", 24" is to big 20" is to smal.

    but then the numbers.
Contrast: the HP w2228h has 1000:1 but the samsung 2253BW has 8000:1.
Resolution: the HP has 1680w1050 but the samsung has 1920x1200
Response time: the hp has 3ms & the samsung 2ms (don't really think that should make a difrence)

So The contrast of the Samsung is 8x the contrast of the HP monitor. is that a big diffrence, or don't you notice it. (same for the resolution does it have much advantage?)

I use the computer alot for school(programming)/gaming so want a decent quality.

But you can change the height of the monitor height of the hp monitor.

So what do you guys think?

    Should i buy a bigger 24" then?
Should i have to buy the one with more then 1000:1 contrast or don't you notice it when its over 1000:1?

    pls help give somme tips!

    Thanks in advance.
(sorry for all those spelling mistakes)

Huh? The Samsung looks better across the board if price is no object.

I can't find the price for the HP though.

Re: Monitor, need help, to much numbers,

Whenever i have asked the question about which monitors to look at for a replacement i have been told to ignore the numbers and go for one with a PVA panel... iv had a bit of trouble locating them though so i would also be interested to know what people say.

I have a Samsung 226BW... Imo they are by far one of the best monitors money can buy.. Best thing to do is go check them out in the store and see which one you like best.. Though I would go with the Samsung if I were you.

            Get the Samsung :)
Higher Contrast Ratio, lower response time, higher resolution, plus video is their specialty.

Ok so samsung wins. In your opinion.

                The HP costs: 329 €
                The Samsung: 299 €

So the good one is even cheaper... doesn't make sense in my opinion.
I just gonne drive to the shop and see wich one i like most like xX5N1P3RXx said.

Thanks for all the fast replies!

Even if you have a poor graphics card you will be able to turn down the resolution for games and will be able to play without any problems and normally keep the same framerate as you would in a 17 in monitor at 1024x768.

I have the same monitor. Been working well for over a year now. Hanns G has a newer model for the 22" size now. Not sure if thats any better than the current.
