New Gaming PC

ok old pc is officially ****ed and at about 4 years old i think it was about time, so now im out in the market again and looking for a gaming PC, been looking at places like cyberpowerPC and other like it, alienware is overpriced **** and out of the question , also i have a bit know how to build PCs but right now making my own would be more of a hassle than an advantage. so i would greatly appreciate so suggestions on what would give me the biggest bang for my buck, as of now my budget limit is a bit over 800 bucks, up to 1000 if everything goes ok in a few days. thanks in advance

well as i said im not in a position to make my own, and those are some of the options you get in the customization page in cyberpower, i pretty much need to know what parts are the best and wont hurt me on the economic side, stuff like memory and hard drives i rather get in newegg, other than that i will order premade

You want:

Intel CPU
ATI HD48xx graphics card (ATI > Nvidia at the moment)
4gb memory
Motherboard with an Intel Chipset

yeah, i figured, i think ill go intel i hope it doesnt leave my pockets empty though, and ive always gone Nvidia so that i might have to think over and also look how much i can afford, example: whats the best 200 card i can get, ATI or NVIDIA?


EDIT: how many Watts power supply should i get if im gonna run SLI/Crossfire?

Intel CPU's range from £30 to £300, so there is always something. I recommend either a E8400 or Q6600.

ATI cards are outperforming and outpricing Nvidia at the moment. I have always had Nvidia before. I bought this new radeon HD4870 and love it!

You should be looking at the Radeon HD4850 or 4870.

ok gotcha, how about the MOBO? will a SLI mobo work with lets say two ATIs? after all it just means it has two PCI-e slots

and the PSU? i heard 600W is enough to hold SLI or crossfire

No, SLI does two Nvidia cards, Crossfire boards will do two ATI cards.

A single 48x0 and a E8400 should be enough for a 800-1000 build.

ok im getting a pretty good idea now.

anyone know of any sites besides cyberpower? id love to build my own but as i said im no expert and i want to get a warranty on it because if i break anything trying to make my own im screwed

You get warranty on parts if you build your own. The only way they won't honour that is if you physically break something.

Most modern Intel boards can run Crossfire. If you want to go down that route, an Intel X38 board may be your best bet given your budget.

ok so now im thinking i might give it a shot and resort to newegg and do it myself, however im not 100% sure on all i need, i know the basics so itd be nice if someone gave me a rundown of the usual stuff id get, i might throw a couple of led fans in there just for the hell of it

well i got my monitor, sound card, mouse, keyboard and a couple of dvd drives which i doubt will work because they arent SATA (old pins connector)

should i worry about wiring and little stuff like that, i assume all is included
