when i was putting my cpu into the slot and locking it in with that pin thing it seemed like you had to put a hell of alot of force on it. i was worried i was going to break something after being so very delicate with everything else. all i was thinking was.."uhh i dont want to waste all my money because i pressed on something too hard."

Yeh both AMD and Intels method of holding the heatsink in place are retarded you have to put about 15kg of pressure to get the damn thing to click in placeComment

It only takes me a nice pull with my thumb and index finger then I flip the top for the processor, pop it out and pop a new one in, apply the thermal goodness put my massive 4U Passive heatsink/cooler (precleained) back on screw in the spring bolts and I am ready to go.
Well that's what I did when I did a full system hardware cleansing. Took everything out motherboard, processors, the works.
I was surprised how low the dust collection was :).Comment

yeah, the force it requires is pretty scary. Especially on the older socket 939's like mine. You have to freakin put your entire body weight on it!!Comment

i had to put what felt to be an insane amount of pressure on the last push-thru to get my hsf locked in place. why in the sam hill can't they just go with a stainless/aluminum backplate with four screws?
edit: i even liked the kooky socket 478 design more than i like the socket 775'sComment
