I'm trying to ship a custom computer from Chicago to Miami and I have a big question:

What is the best way to ship more delicate pieces (RAM sticks, etc), and is there a specific way to treat static-sensitive pieces like the GFX Card, motherboard, heatsink, etc?

This is what I have:

• 1x Case
• 1x set LED Lights
• 2x Individual Fans
• 1x Fan in a Front Bay
• 1x HD and Bay
• 1x Empty Front Bay
• 1x Disc Drive
• 1x USB Hookup and Rear Bay
• 1x PSU
• 1x Disc Drive
• 2x 1GB Sticks of DDR2 RAM
• 1x Graphics Card
• 1x Heatsink
• 1x IDE Cable
• 1x Motherboard with CPU installed and attached (should I remove the CPU?)

I'd love some of your thoughts on this... it's somewhat time-sensitive, as I leave on Tuesday afternoon and need to have the package ready to ship by then. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Do you want to keep it in one piece or are you doing it in separate pieces?

Meaning do you want it put together and all in the case or all the parts out of the case?

^ exactly, it sounds like your shipping in parts not in one case, i shipped my PC (which is due for pickup today) in on box, all the parts are hooked up in the Antec case that i own.

I took it apart... frankly I don't trust the US Postal Service to get it from Chicago to Miami without something breaking inside... so I was going to wrap each piece individually and package them all in a box. unless it's really more feasible to just put it back together and ship it as one? I don't really know how "rugged" the components are.

Thats why you dont use post office :p.I shipped my comp all the way to florida from cali without any damage.Course I loaded the box with foam and bubble wrap.

yup.box was dented on the edges,but if you cushion your computer you should be good.

You need a lot of anti static bags and a lot of bubblewrap :p

My Ebuyer order arrived in some rather groovy giant bubble wrap which had cells about 5cmx10cm in size, and it seemed to do the job. TBH, the most important thing is to secure everything within the box so that it doesn't bounce around. :)

^ LOooooOL my speakers that came from Ebuyer were in a buble wrap same to your description i had fun popig them, they made a lond POP lol, plus i used some to cover my speakers as i sent them back home they did the work

So the general consensus is to ship it in one piece? Should I put anything inside the machine, in the empty space, to pad it? Or will a bunch of padding and bubble wrap around the case do the trick?

If you've got a tower type CPU cooler (Tuniq etc.) you might want to take it out.

Nah, its just a normal heatsink/fan that sits above the CPU

I would advise to cover it with buble wrap, and foam or just bubble wrap really.

Undo all cables inside the PC as movement can break of the plastic clips that hold plugs together (happened to the SATA plugs on my HD)
