    New PC

I'm going to get a new pc for out in the lounge room to go on the 50inch plasma screen however i need some help in choosing a GPU.. I only want it for watching movies, internet and music NOT for gaming.. So it doesn't need to be something fantastic but it need's to be good enough to watch big resolution movies on the 50 inch screen.. Soo with that in mind what should i get?.. I was thinking of buying an 8800GT but that is most probably overkill for just watching movies?

EDIT: ohh and also a cpu.. what cpu should i get? I want to keep it as cheap as possible.. I have set a budget of around $1000 but i want to come in way below that but whatever..

A cheap intel dual core...Or AM2, they are good for cheap media centers...Also you might want to get an ATI card since it has better picture quality than nvidia and look for something with loads of outputs...Im sure a basic 3650 will suit you just fine....Shouldnt need anything more than that...

No for a media center PC both those should be good...Although if you really want to you might want to look at a more expensive 3850 with HDMI output...

a 3850 should do, i say check the tehc specs of the card, they usually have the resolution support types. And that 5200AMD is fine, you dont need to go heavy on the CPU me thinks.

Look for a graphics card with HDMI/DVI support for full HD quality.

                    AMD Athlon X2 4850e + 790GX/SB750 motherboard.

You don't need a graphics card then.

Good choice. The new chips are perfectly capable of HD video playback using HDMI or DisplayPort.

The list looks good to me, you can even game on it when your main PC is down.

If it's a media PC, you'll need to set the Antec Tricool's that come with the P180 to slow otherwise they are fairly loud.
