New heatsink

I need to pick up a new heatsink today.. I have a P5N-T deluxe motherboard and im thinking of getting a tuniq tower.. Is that a good way to go? or is there something else i should get?

Edit: arghh no one aorund here sells the tuniq.. the best i could find was the Zalman 7500.. Is this a good heatsink? it's $89 aus

Yeah i checked them out.. But i just realized some people have had a few problems with it fitting due to the copper cooling on the mobo.. And i think this will be a problem for me as this is my motherboard..



and as you can see the copper fins are quite close around the cpu

I'll see how i go, the reviews are all quite good so hopefully i can fit this thing to my mobo.

If you do get a Xigmatek, get the HDT-S1283

Look for a Thermalright Ultra Extreme.

Also a very good heatsink. However, the Xigmatek is cheaper....

Can't go wrong with either of them. :thumbsup:

arctic cooling freezer 7 pro is the best thing going on a budget. installation is one of the easiest i've seen on aftermarket hsf--you just pop the fan off, plug it in, and put the fan back on after. it can be done without removing the mobo from the case.

edit, here is a link. i've got nothing but good things to say about this hsf; i used it to keep a PD 915 cool and overclocked to 3.8ghz and an e6600 overclocked to 3.4 until i get my next hsf-->

if you want the best cooling out there, it needs to say thermalright on the box.

having used it for a long time, i'm a fan of this one

although on a P5E motherboard, installation was a bear (constantly worried about warping the board, which had to be removed from case), and you also have to buy a fan with almost any thermalright heatsink. lol, the good news is that if i can get that hunk of tin onto this mobo:

:|::hmm: I think the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 has the Freezer beat. This Xigmatek is within striking distance of a TRUE. (ie less than 2C under load) At $27, you're getting 95% of a TRUE. The Freezer 7 is currently more expensive than the Xigmatek. Even at its regular price of $37, the HDT-S1283 gives some serious competition to the Freezer and the TRUE.

okies well that Zalman i got didn't fit.. I'll see if i can order in the Xigmatek :) thank's heaps for the help. I have a $70-$90 Aus budget.. So this is a good choice yeah?

P.S. how do i fit a fan to it? =^O.o^= I think I want a heatsink with a fan already fitted..

EDIT: also i think my mobo is broked D= When taking off my last heatsink i noticed a bend in the board >_< I fitted my last heatsink but I don't think I did it right..

If it's bent, it means you did the heatsink up too tight and warped the board.

When i was putting it on there was a good 3-5 mil gap between the mobo and the plate.. i closed that gap by screwing it on tight lol.. Pretty stupid on my behalf.. but because of the base plate under the mobo i wasn't really expecting it to bend and the instructions said to make it really tight.. I guess that's what i get for buying a generic brand heatsink..

no worries about the disagreement. i'm guessing you're running a xigmatec and quite happy with it :) i own an ac freezer 7 pro on the shelf that i've also used, and for price/noise/performance i'd stack it up against anything...

xigmatec is a relatively new player (at least in the NA market), and i'm honestly unfamiliar with their line up and their reliability. if they've managed to beat a $25 dollar
