Yea, over about 700mb is silly (unless your playing some massive resolutions). Also, on 32bit Vista in just reduces the amount of system RAM as well due to the IRQ handling (the 3.25gb thing. The more system memory such as graphics memory, the less system memory)

Hmm well i do know the fact that some cards might come with greater memory and less clocks and shaders than others. I have a 22" currently, and am sure my 88GTX can hold like a russian in WW2 :P

The only reason i was asking is that, i know i am going to move to a better card in the near future, prolly then 512s and 768s will be old, i mean look at the 256s.

Some benchies done by the same Chinese dude. Please note the stepping is still early C0. The screen shot from overclock.net shows that one is C2.

Still not sure about "TLB" errata in Vista, but, at 3.2GHz, this thing is fast.

Well, at least 2.3GHz version will be marketed as energy efficient CPUs for average use. A 65W quad core at 2.3GHz, wow, that's a lot of computing power for Word, Excel and Firefox.

However, we still have to remember that Nehalem will still be faster, so AMD's strategy will still be pricing. 2.66GHz Nehalem will be priced at $284 for 1000-unit tray, and the speed is roughly equivalent to QX9650. We can guess that AMD would price 3.0GHz Deneb at around $250 when it is launched.

A Chinese news source says that Pierre Brunswick from AMD sales department said that 45nm Deneb and server chip Shanghai will debut in Q3 instead of Q4. Top frequency will be 3GHz. That'll be interesting, even though they won't hit retail until Q4.

They dont have the luxury of doing that at the moment

back when they had the performance crown chips like the FX-55 and FX-57 retailed for like $800

Ive not seen the benchmarks but somone told me that 512mb's starts to become a problem after 1920x1200 on GRID, but other than that its more than sufficent

i have a 22" monitor and a 4870 and ive run Crysis, Grid, COD4 and some others at highest on 1680x1050 without any noticable annoying fps drops

however i did i see the benchmarks for the 8800gt 256mb it was almost identical to the 512mb version until 1680x1050 on crysis then FPS was totally killed after than from like 40fps to 7-8fps with a small resolution jump

You reminded me why I went with Pentium 4 HT 630/LGA 775 back in late 2005: because it was CHEAPER.

But, take a look at overpriced/underperformed Intel CPUs at the time. If I were Hector Ruiz, I would have been saying: "Take a look at how Intel priced their crap, maybe we can get some more." AMD has to price their products according to Intel pricing. Intel, on the other hand, always have independent pricing policy despite how AMD CPUs perform against theirs.

              Three years later, I got Pentium D 830 for $50 and X2 4850e for 60$.

SO the 4870 can handle high rez Death Merchant? I have been taking that in to consideration as i have a 22" and am playing at 1680x1050.

My 4870 easily plays on all high, 8x AA and 1680x1050. it's an epic card.

CustomPC said it ran fine on 19xxx16xx as well

Well this is the first time ever i feel that i dont need more performance from my pc it would just go to waste on a 22" monitor

Board modification leads current NVIDIA chipset to support ACC feature (only available on SB750-equipped AMD boards). Damn I bought my board too early. I guess I have to wait for Deneb anyway.
