    i dont get it

ok just a bit of tweaking before i get the money and the credit card and actually order the stuff the hardest thing for me to decide on has been the motherboard basically caus i havent had to set a computer up like this before and i dont want to worry about running into trouble

theres these 2 boards, one of them is an x38 the other one is an x48 and i dont get why the x48 is like 70 bucks more than the other one they both support dual and quad core. they both have 2 pci express 2.0 slots they both have alot of USB ports. they both support DDR2 800 RAM. i would like to save that extra money and maybe i can get another $80 seagate HDD and do that RAID 0 thing that people were saying was so cool. but yeah sorry im being a deuche and asking you more questions but i tend to beleive you give pretty good answers

and also do all of these aftermarket motherboard allow you to connect to the internet without having to get a network card or anything like that? i dont need a network card do i? is that what onboard LAN is?

and then how can i tell by looking at the stats that they allow for RAID 0 configuration of 2 or more hard drives?

Onboard LAN means there's a NIC installed on the motherboard and that means you don't have to buy a separate one . The reason x48 > x38 is because it's newer... and that's all I know of. The older one would do your job fine, it's a great mobo and I've never heard anything bad about it. Unless you intend to overclock the PC to the balls, I'd save money and just go for the $180 one.

The X48 supports 1600MHz CPUs whereas the X38 (officially) doesn't. I think X48 also has more PCI-E lanes and various other extra features. TBH though, are you sure you won't be OK with a cheaper P35 or P45 board?

well tbh im not totally sure what is really the best to have but im just being a bit cautious and getting a more expensive board i mean spending 50 dollars less im not going to reall regret this decision

THE ONLY THING i regret right now is that i tried to make a purchase tool early after activating my credit card so i got a bunch of error emails saying that my order couldnt be processed i think i have to wait till monday to see whats going on. im hoping with 3 day delivery that i get my junk by wednesday

for some reason i had a bunch of money tacked off and it dropped from 1230 down to 950 dollars
