[Nvidia] Nvidia To Bring WHQL-certified PhysX Drivers On August 5th

The new ForceWare driver is expanding PhysX support to all currently available PhysX titles on the market, including Ghost Recon 2: Advanced Warfighter, Warmonger and Cell Factor: Revolution.

We expect that downloads of free games such as Warmonger and Cell Factor will actually spike once again in August, since now those games will be playable on a variety of cards.

Lol if people use these drivers they're scores wont count in 3dmark vantage or 3dmark 06 because it violating its use of physx

The only thing that confuses me about these drivers is wether or not you can accelerate physics and graphics simultaneously.

If you are running a game like UT and getting 90+ fps - can you cap graphics to say 40 fps and use the rest of the processing power of your card to acclerate physics calculations. Or is it one or the other?

For a game like Crysis I wouldn't expect a benefit as the GFX board is using all it's power to generate the images anyhow.

It could only accelerate games with PhysX support i think.

Yeah I know - I'm just using Crysis as an example of a game that maxes almost all modern GFX cards.

Wasn't there something about how you could do a sort of SLI with 2 cards, one does graphics, and the other does physics?

                  Yeah I heard that.

You could throw in your old geforce to handle Physx or just buy a cheap 7900 or something.

Of course you'd need a game worth playing before you'd bother. Hopefully this stuff will be on the net today for some testing.

A 7900 couldn't do physics. You have to use a CUDA compatible card which applies to the 88xx range upwards i believe.

Do you just trawl these forums searching for opportunities to correct people?

                      You are right though.

I just read somewhere a release date of 12th August - other places say September.
