If you read the intro it shows them as "Brand X". It is a generic cheap PSU maker. Whuy would Corsair show their own PSU's failing at 75% after 2 minutes. Not great advertising lol.

Not a lot of people realise that when building a PC the PSU is probably the most important component in the thing. Most folk would tend to just look for mobo/cpu/gfx compatibilities and fire in a cheap PSU at the end... oh dear. This video should explain why it's always worth splashing out on a decent PSU

I won't recommend cheap PSU for some power hog build, but the test shown is intrinsically flawed to make Brand X look bad. The Brand X 450W PSU have only two 12V rails, and one may be weaker. The test apparently rigged all 12V output on one rail. 450W is calculated by averaging output from all 3.3V, 5V and 12V output. Of course it fails when they pushed 335W through only one rail. Check the video again and you'll see that it's always the same MOSFET that failed.

The other thing that people should be paying attention is to balance all 12V output. If you hook up three 9800 GTX to one 12V rail on a Corsair PSU (very unlikely scenario unless one really wants to do some scientific study), chances are it will still fail sometime in the future.

lol my PSU is a so called budget one - but it was warmly recommended by a lot of people I know so I bought it anyway :p

The Corsair PSU (or at least the one I have) only have one 12V rail.
So the test may be somewhat unfair, but a Corsair could have handled it.
