Re: New guide
I recently rebuilt my previously bought HP Media Center and I swear I'd never buy any company-built for personal use.
Honestly, most computer suggestion here recommend fastest computer for money, which seems a bit absurd to me. Been there, done that. I'm now seeking different building strategy that many here will disagree.
I got my current AMD 4850e OEM from eBay for $60 (shipping included), motherboard from newegg (open-box for $57 shipping included) and a POS quiet fan (<$20 shipping included). The question would be, you want a power hog generating 30dBa noise all the time, or something that can't run games as good, can do almost anything else without noticible difference, but draws less power and barely audible? Now most of the noise from my computer comes from case fan, which I am considering between replacing it with a $10 quiet fan or simply unplug it.
