Hey guys
I just reinstalled vista the other day and after installing the drivers for my sound card I can't get my mic to work now.

I don't know what else to add. I've got my mic fully plugged in (and not muted) and the recording device is set to the line in on my card.

I didn't install the audio drivers for my mobo because I'm not using the onboard audio this time and sound works 100%.

If it makes you feel any better, I get a BSOD if I plug in my mic. Same setup as you.

Ok well I managed to get my mic working, it was set to disabled and then the list of recording devices was set to hide disabled devices.

Just one more thing, I can now hear my mic through my headphones. Anyone know how to fix this.

Go to Control Panel > Sound > Recording tab to see if "What U Hear" is enabled instead of Microphone.

That's all I can think of unless this is only happening in a certain program (e.g. Teamspeak).

Not sure if you've fixed your problem yet, but I think I know what's happening now. Go to Control panel > sound again.

I suspected that was the case because my 2ZS does the same, but I didn't now how the X-fi software works. :)
