Agreed, it's not hard to build a computer anymore. Plus, we can guide you all of the way (if you even need it :p)

Well, i've been to a site where you can order all your components for your own computer and at that site i had to pay 750 euros for the machine i've ''build'', but it was a much better machine.

Maybe i'll go for the computer i've build.

It really is simple to build, in fact, the hardest part i found was opening all the boxes (i swear some companies use an entire roll of duck tape to secure them).

Many of us here have built our own comps, don't be afraid to hit us up via IM, PM or forum posts if you need any help. You'll be so much more satisfied with the outcome, both the greater performance and the intrinsic pleasure of knowing you can do it. Plus, it's good bragging rights. Girls love geeks

Yeah, i've heard all the stories how easy it is to build your own comp. Thing is, i don't have the monies and the time for it. Well, time won't be a problem now since i have holidays right now but the monies are

Unfortunately, i forgot the site where i assembled my own comp but i did it at a friends house so i can look it up as soon as i get there.

If you can afford that pre-built, how can you not afford a self built?

I built a PC on a UK based site, and i know every part in the case. Honestly i prefer custom built PCs.

I payed 763 pounds for it and it was damn worth it compared to my currency. I am going to have to agree with Hellsent and Alex on getting a custom built

Yup, building a pc basically consists of plugging everythign in to the correct place.

I really struggled to get into my OEM optical drive, it was wrapped in bubble wrap which in turn was completely coated with duct tape with nowhere obvious to start getting into it.

                  Because it;s actually more expensive.

The hardest part when building a new computer is inserting the RAM... all you do is push it in but you don't want to break anything :p

How can it be more expensive to buy parts than a prebuilt? I haven't seen that yet

The prebuilt is inferior to the self-built at the specs part.

So basicly, i'm buying a better computer when i build it myself then the pre-built one.

So around $1100 USD. Do you need a monitor?

                            Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - $209.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115017
                            Asus P5N-D - $149.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131232
                            Asus HD 4850 512mb GDDR3 - $164.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121253
                            Corsair 2x2gb PC2-6400 - $66.50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145184
                            Corsair HX520w PSU - $99.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=corsair%2b520

                            $691.46

I don't know about cases or disk/hard drives, but you have $408 left. That should be plenty. (And of course your OS, you can get XP for like $100 now.)

Oh and don't actually go out and buy that stuff, I have no idea if half that stuff is even compatible with each other, it was just to prove that you can get more bang for the buck with a computer you build yourself.
