    iTunes

For some reason the itunes software doesnt work on any computer in my house; whenever i load it up after installation the program crashes with the error shown below .

Is there anyway i can get around this to put music onto the ipod, i.e. through third party software?

    Cheers

Did you use iTunes before, or is this the first time you've installed it?

You may have either a corrupted download/install or a previous version wasn't fully uninstalled and so when you try loading it, it tries to load the previous version files and causes an error.

I'd be interested to know if there are any 3rd party programs that allow you to transfer tracks to/from an ipod. I'm looking to buy one soon, but itunes is the only reason I haven't bought one yet (****ing **** program, bloated as ****).

Ya there is a few programs... I can't think of the name at the moment, but I have it on my iPod, I can transfer/backup music from iPod to PC (which you can't do in iTunes/aren't supposed to do) and can also do it from PC back to iPod, so I'm sure you can just use that program. It's really simple - just go to the folders to import and then import them all. However you may need to run iTunes with iPod at least once, I'm not too sure.

But I know theres other programs out there.

Um, you can easily transfer all your music from your ipod, to a PC, for free.

Just enable viewing of hidden files, and disc mode on your iPod. viola

Of course, you can pick and choose the songs, as they don't have track names, but you can dump them all onto your HD and any media player will recognize the name and artist info.

Bad experience I suppose, after being able to drag/drop music on to my Creative Zen for so long and using foobar2000 for ages I felt that iTunes was just a complete disaster of a program. It took like 2 minutes to load up for me, and even then it ran like ****. Oh well... I'll see what happens.

                    Surely you know about Winamp.

I don't use it (for general use, transfer, pod casts etc), but I used it to nick songs of a friend.
