    Cant see AVI/WMV Files....

I cant see WMV or AVI files anymore! However I can still hear them and I can still view some other formats such as MP4? It might have something to do with my drivers as I updated them yesterday for the first time in ages from here. I've tried installing and unistalling the Basic and full CCC versions but its still not working... help me please.

And yes I have tried playing multiple files in different players.

Its definitely a codec problem. try installing one of the KLite codec packs. I've been using them for years and there is never a video it I cant watch.

I downloaded the top exe and installed.... its still not working. Do I have to configure it in some way or should it work once its installed?

Right click desktop > properties > settings tab > advanced > troubleshoot tab

turn down hardware acceleration all the way, if it doesnt fix, then turn it back up to where it was originally.

Uninstall all Codec Packs (K-lite, ****, other ****) then install CCCP. Look at my guide over in the Guides subforum.

VLC has integrated codecs, just so you know. It doesn't use any Directshow filters/codecs.

Cheers guys, the hardware acceleration works but some games require it so its slightly annoying to turn off. Also out of interest I was playing a 9.5 GB HD File today and it was laging a little in action sceens, is this to be expected or is it to do with codecs?
