I would advise him to save up until he has around $200. Then he could get a 9600GT and a decent PSU.

Its very important to not get a cheap PSU.

Antec should be good, thing is you can never really judge by brands since manufacturing is outsourced to a different company.

I used to keep buying new hardware that was better, but already outdated and always felt my money wasn't well spent.

It's not worth buying GPU's that are under $100, what Alex said they are already outdated and they wont improve your current system much so you might as well get good liquid cooling and overclock, outcome would be the same. If your going to get a graphics card it should be around 150-250 to really be called an upgrade.

Plus we really need to know, if that motherboard runs on AGP or PCI-e x16 I doubt it runs PCI-e 2.0

I'm most likely going to stick with the 3650.
I'm going to go look for a decent PSU if I can, but I'll be upgrading piece by piece. I don't like having to save up, cause eventually something better is going to pop up. Right now, I'm just looking for a decent video card that runs good detail at 1280x1024 (I like things in this resolution).

I'm NOT looking for stuff that runs Crysis good or something like that.

Right now the 7300le is holding out pretty well, it runs lots of games (unlike my Intel integrated GMA950) at an average of 20 FPS (half-life lighting lag to 5 FPS), which is pretty bad, but at least it runs.

Keep in mind my old stuff is going to be used for building more computers =P. Its good to conserve.

I'm asking for suggestions for good PSUs that are under $100 (I'll buy at Christmas or something) that have OVER 600W.

Edit: ohai. ^That's him. What do you need 600w for? 450w can run an 8800GT.

If you have $100 then i would just save for that little bit longer, theres no point in buying a $55 graphics card now then in a years time needing another one for $55, you may aswell save that little longer and get a card thats going to last 2years for $110 dollars, also mean it will be better performance now

yea, but sooner or later, that card will eventually be $55. Would you rather be paying $55 later for a decent card every once in a while or paying $250 every time you want a new card to last you a while?

Oh - and I promise you, I won't be replacing quite a few products that I have bought cheaply. My computer right now, I bought the hardware for $300. And yes, it is going to last me a while, cause I don't believe that CPU requirements will hit too high for me to run.

I have a D945GCCR Intel Motherboard, 2.8 GhZ Pentium D, 2 1GB sticks of RAM, the 7300le (that my great friend got me), and a 480 GB hard drive. That all costed $300. Pretty cheap for spending on everything eh?

The average card for 3650 (without offers on rebates) is near $90 right now. I am going to consider some suggestions for MODERN (not future, no I don't care for 6 months) PSUs and decent price/quality GFX cards. I am not going to live another 6 months with lower than 25 FPS (and broken Halo 2 weather graphics). Another reason is cause of my PSU. Adds aprox $75 for a decent good one to run the awesome $110 GFX card.

BTW I just got a new wireless USB 2.0 adapter 54 Mbps 802.11g for $8. Awesome cheapness ftw. Good prices for good times :)

8800GS and a good 450-500w can't be too bad, can it?

Namakan has a Pentium D 3ghz and a 8800GT, he says it only really shows at higher resolutions or high AA.

I have no idea. HL2 probably. I seriously can't stand playing at 20 fps. It happens to me sometimes on 64 man city maps in 2142, probably because of dynamic shadows and lights or something.

And on my other computer I have a E6850 and an 8800GT, works fine, but a month later the E8400 comes out with more cache and 45nm. :cry:

I just ordered it anyways. $55 isn't that much. I'll save for a new PSU then after that I might get a new gfx card - If I really want to.

And is it just me, or does everyone besides me n' WizardWarts have Nvidia 8800s O.o
