Ventrilo/TS malfunction ingame

Hi.

I have a problem with ventrilo when trying to speak. I press my button, but vent don't transmit my talk. I can only recive chatter from other players. Anything i can do to fix this? Does teamspeak also have this problem, or is it only something with my settings?

It might sound daft but have a check on the vent window if you are muted. I have experienced this problem before.

You will just need to click the box saying Mute Microphone/Binds

Check your settings for output if you can hear others, make sure its on your sound card or w/e mic you have, experiment with those settings, I had the same problems so its more than likely that.

Also, before you do anything, make sure your mic actually works, there is a sound recorder that comes with windows you can use to test this.

The problems you describe aint mine, since i only have the problem in CoD4. in all other games and programs Ventrilo run fine and i can transmit as normal, so to me it sounds like some settings ingame and vent are crashing, though i have checked and never found out.

so when you go to sound recorder and record it works fine? (i know we all hate our own voices but its worth checking )

Hve you made sure the talk button in COD is different to the talk button in vent. I know they really shouldnt confilct but you gotta go with trial and error.

Try updating the Realtek HD Audio drivers

Nothing really works. I can record my sound outside CoD4, and if i minimize CoD i can speak fine in Ventrilo (while the game still is minimized).

If allt he above has not worked, try binding your PTT (Push To Talk) to a different button and see if that one works in game, on my mouse a few buttons did not work for ventrilo as PTT's, dunno why. I guess its because they're not common buttons?

If your running Vista try running Vent/Teamspeak as administrator.

actually running it as administrator has fixed a ton of problems for Vista users. just an fyi :P
