How to Raise your FPS!

a recent thread has proved very useful in how to raise your fps so i have made a sticky with commands and settings in game which should help you.


To Raise your FPS

Shadows : uses about 10 of your FPS, which you can save.

dinamic lights : can lower your FPS by 7-12

antiailising should be off

resolution 1024/768

water detail low

glow off

spectacular map no
depth of field no
soften smoke no
bullet impacts no
ragdoll no



also try in console
/r_drawsun 0
/r_drawwater 0
/r_drawdecals 0

(this command may get you kicked from some servers but you can change to default "1" and be fine to rejoin)this has great ability to up your fps by alot

also set MAXFPS TO 125

/com_maxfps 125

just to add some info incase any one wondered i came across this useful post by pure accident

WRONG. MAXFPS in COD4 is everything, the whole engine is based around the framerate cap. It affects your movement, shooting, nade throw distance, you will get stuck in places if it's too low, and many jumps are impossible until you set your framerate cap to 125 or higher. The MAXPACKETS rate determines how much information you send to the server every second, the higher the better, this how the server knows what you are doing and everything especially hit reg depends on it. In the COD4 engine: MAXPACKETS = FRAMERATE x 1/n (where n is an integer), and it cannot be higher than 100. If your framerate is capped too low, your maxpackets rate goes down and it will constantly fluctuate with your framerate resulting in a jumpy connection. Everyone who plays COD4 seriously uses either maxfps 100 or 125, with cl_maxpackets 100 or 63, respectively, and sets up their graphics settings so they maintain this framerate 100% of the time. You can look this up on any serious competetion COD4 forum.
