Punisher are you plugging in to the USB port in the back of the computer or the front? If the front, try using the back outlet and also try unplugging your speakers .

When you say it crashes your game, does your computer freeze or does it actually crash to desktop?

My expensive headset freezes my game in COD4 I think. USB Connection as well

My Logitech headset can use either USB or miniplugs. USB caused my trouble too, so I just use the mic and headphone jacks.

It's because USB it acts as removable hardware. So it may be conflicting with the game. Did the headset come with any CD's to install software? If so, look for some drivers or something, if not, thats really weird. And also, you might be able to find a connector that connects the USB so that you can plug the other end into the miniport.

Sounds like a driver problem. Download the newest drivers

It's only semi off-topic, but I'll post it because someone may find it useful. This is the headset to which I was referring. It is corded with dual 3.5mm plugs, but comes in a case with a dedicated dongle for USB use. Sound quality is great and cord is nice and long with mute/vol in line. Very comfortably, even wearing glasses.
