New Vid card

Alright so I want a new GFX card but mild round bump ... also need a new PSU

So what if i just get a new case and make it look pretty and migrate everything over to it? will this work? I am assuming i should get a new mobo if i do this, that way everything is up to date and i can work off of it?

Check list?

Case: will find a good mid case
PSU: will either come with case or get a 500 W ???
Mobo: i have no clue?
CPU: umm old will work?
Vid card: one of the 8800's
RAM: already have 2 gigs of OCZ
CD Drive: already have
sound: on board for now
HD: use old one

Current:
RAM: 2 x 1 Gig sticks (OCZ ... i upgraded)
CPU: Itel Pentium D CPU 2.66 GHz (it is listed twice in device manager?)
MOBO: whatever came with my dell?
GFX: 7600 LE
PSU: 305 W

How much will it cost me to do this, minus the case ... but add in a PSU. any recomendations ... Is it worht it, or should i hold out and build a really good Computer this summer?

Something tells me this is gunna be pricey and get put off until i get a job xD

Hold out. Seriously, what you have now isn't the greatest, bringing it over into a new case won't do you much good. Just wait until you can afford a really good mobo and cpu. You do need a new power supply though, 305 W is nothing now, especially if you are looking to be into gaming in the future.

NewEgg is your friend, use it as much as possible for comparing prices and finding reviews on products.

That's just my opinion though.

I think ive decided, after talking to some people, that im going to hold out until I have some money to spend and then ill see where we are in standards then and do it good. I was just like, im sick of this crap graphics and lots of vid lag. So im going to stick with what i got now, unfortunately.

Overall what is better for good deals and such newegg or tigerdirect? ive heard both xD

If any of you lived in Canada, i would tell you to go to Canada Computers, who generally are cheaper than Tiger, and then if you pay in cash you can get it down even more. But nooooo, ya all live in far away lands.

Oh well, Newegg is generally better than Tiger when it comes to prices, and they have a lot more reviews on products, which is helpful as well.

And I know how you feel about being tired of the bad graphics and all that. I have had to do one of the slowest upgrades ever. I only recently upgraded to a dual core, how sad is that? lol.

I guess I'll throw my two cents in...I like both Newegg and Tiger and typically go with Newegg because of the reviews from users and because they have a warehouse near me and I can get things pretty much the next day, even if I do the free 3-business-day shipping.

HOWEVER, I find that Tiger tends to have better bundle deals. For instance, in January, I purchased a new mobo, quad-core CPU and 2 Gigs of RAM for $379. It was a great deal and Newegg didn't have anything comparable. So I would definitely keep my options open, but that's just my opinion.

As for power supply, I wouldn't go less than 650. My brother-in-law recently got the same bundle I did along with the same video card, 8800 GTX, and his 500 W Thermaltake wouldn't handle it. So, he's upgrading. Just an observation.

I have a 8800 gtx and cant recommend it enough. Like Dragon says if you go for this card you will need to be looking for a 650+ watt powersupply. Also you will need 2 power cables to the card.

Yeah, im just going to get a job and sometime within the next year ill build a nice gaming pc. all the people i have talked to who buy laptops for college say that they only use it in their dorm the majority of the time anyways.
