    freeing up ram

I have found in game that at times there is a lot of lag and I noticed that my cpu is about maxed when this happens. Is there an easy way to turn off a lot of the background programs while playing the game so as to not bog down the cpu? Perhaps a different profile or something like that? You guys are great. Thanks:lol:

Task Manager it if you don't want to upgrade, turn off stuff like AVG. Seriously though, when you close down programmes, not all of them actually close. I for one had the problem of me closing an internet browser and it still being active, so you have to check for these things. Also, things like msn still stay on and use CPU even though apparently not on, stuff like that. Just look out for abbreviations of programmes you recognise and ditch em', as long as they're not necessary ofc. :p run32 <<<< o noezzz!!!

when we use an application it doesn't necessarily 'terminate' when we close it, using regedit u can make adjustments so that when u do close it the program actually terminates, this frees up ram

i'll try and find how to do it

u can use tune xp to allocate a lot more oomph to certain parts of the pc and as for the stuff running in the background slowing your pc down , i would use a program called autoruns to check them out and turn off unneeded stuff.
heres the links for tune xp 1.5 and autoruns.
(*note* autoruns isnt the friendliest of programs for ppl so if u need help, u can get me on xfire (thepcdoc) or msn (the_p_c_Doc@hotmail.com) or message me here.

            tune xp 1.5

            hope that helps
