PB Kick Tonight while testing server

Hey, I just thought I'd post this here, in case anyone else has this problem tomorrow.

I asked one of the SA's (Killuaxc) to set up the Heaven Source SD map for me, so I could check it out prior to tomorrow's battle.

I connected, but got kicked after only a minute with a PB error. It said that my maxpackets had to be set to a value between 60 - 100. It was set to 30.

I ran the command to fix it, but it didn't work.

Now, it may just have been me, because Kill didn't have the problem at all...but, given the fiasco of the mod problem a few weeks ago, I thought I'd post this.

So, just in case anyone runs into this tomorrow when they try to connect, here's how it was fixed: (A big thanks to Killuaxc for walking me through this!!)

Go into your COD4 folder, then into \players\profiles\profilename

profilename is whatever your profile happens to be called.

Open the config_mp.cfg file in Wordpad (notepad makes it look horrible and hard to find anything) and do a search for "maxpackets" without the quotes. My value was set to 30...I adjusted it to 60.

I then got another error, about the "lodscalerigid" setting. I followed the same procedure as above, except I found the lodscalerigid entry and set it to 4.

I then connected and had no issues.

So, if you get kicked from the server tomorrow because of a Punk Buster error, pay attention to the exact setting that is flawed...open the file, fix the entry and you should be all set...hopefully.

Hopefully, it was just me and no one else has these issues, but if you do, hopefully this will help you fix them.

Just tried out the server, had the same prob. Easy fix tho. Hope nobody gives up joining the battle cause of this.

Was that my problem...I didn't reconnect? I did the first two commands, but still got kicked.

If that's the case, that is much easier. :)
