I am having this problem now,tried to go on the server today to get some of files downloaded before tonights game,its giving me this exact same error

Invalid IWD file the bfe mod iwd is the problem

I removed the one downloaded from the server and download direct from here,still the same.

This may have already been fixed, since I can get to the redirect link, but just in case, try this:

BFE Redirect

There you can download pretty much anything you need for battles.

In "mods -> bfe" you can find the mod.ff and the z_bfemod.iwd which are the files that make up the BFE mod. You'll also see two map iwds: mp_village.iwd and mp_village_night.iwd. All of these files will need to go in your "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare\Mods\BFE" folder

In "usermaps" you can find all the possible map files required for BFE Battles or BFE map tests. All map files need to be placed in "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare\usermaps\[map name here]"

can't connect to BFE servers now? tried dloading the mod file from the link above, didn't help.
