DirectX problems...
Hey got CoD4 for PC today and I've got it installed but whenever I try to run the game, it says "DirectX has encountered an unrecoverable error" and closes out. I've updated DirectX a bunch of times and have even reinstalled CoD4 but its still a no go. Any ideas?

Have you downloaded the latest 2 patches 1.4 and 1.5? They're available at infinityward.com -

if you have vista, for some reason DirectX conflicts with it....it happens to me, but usually im alright. I dont know the fix....i have heard of a couple things, but they wern't reliable sources, and it didn't make sence....if anybody knows anything, or if i figure it out ill let you know.Comment

let me know what the specs of the pc are and what version of direct x you are running, u can find the direct x info by running file dxdiag.Comment
