HELP* with buying new computer

Looks like a nice setup. I'm planning almost the same thing, just a different mobo and case. I'm also planning on using (2) 8800gt's instead on (1) 8800gtx's.

Also, what I've been finding is that Newegg has pretty good prices on some things, but not everything. Do a search for everything you want on NextTag and just buy each piece from the cheapest vendor (make sure you figure in shipping... some places may have the product cheaper, but have crazy shipping charges)

I got my total cost down by almost $200 this way.

Also, you might want to consider a mobo with a few more PCIx16 slots for future upgrades or double GFX cards (make sure it's sli compatible)

It's subjective and really doesn't matter much. Just make sure your FSB's supports something over or equal to 800, has SATA ports, has at least 1 PCI-e x16/2.0 slot, and isn't made by some weirdass never-heard-of-before company.

Like PCChips or XFX. I've never heard of PCChips, and XFX should've stayed with manufacturing video cards. :P

I have lowered the price and raised quality so far except in video card but the drop was slight. i still need help with the motherboard though i wish i knew what all that meant.

You might want to rethink your CPU and stay with the Q6600. Quite a few games are geared toward the quad core processors. They will run fine on a dual core, but are optimized for the quads.

The case he picked had a power supply included. Frankly, you don't need 650 watts for anything but 2 video cards. Which is stupid since you get 2 (something small) more FPS for double the price.

Looks good !! Go for the Q6600. From what I've been researching, the Q6700 is not worth the extra $$$ You could use the difference for 2 gfx cards..... ignore tinfoil, your fps will go up about 1.6x i.e: you get 80fps with 1 card, you'll get about 128 with 2
