cod4 help - freezing

Hey guys, i just reformatted my PC and not my cod4 keeps freezing randomly, all the settings are the same becaus ei transferred over my config etc. i got no error or warning and it doesnt do it after a certain amount of time, it just does it whenever it wants, any1 know wats wrong??

Did you have it patched before you formated and did you patch it again?

i had the same problem,check if you video card is overheating,thats what my problem was now i have my house fan beside it haha

i had it patched b4 and i have now, might be my gfx card over heating but i dunno, i mean i can minimize and close the game and rest of it still works, same with sound, can still hear TS just not the game, im gonna try a few things and hopefully it will be fixed

Haha thats what I do. I pulled the front cover off and have a desk fan in front of it on high. Not to mention pulling about a pound of dust out.
The computer/vid card used to overheat after a couple hours of gaming but now it's fine.

AnyOne Have a soulotion for the game as i hve to reconnect to the server everytime i connect and at every map change and its really getting on my nearves as most times i get back in the server is full please help thanks

Hmm the only thing I can suggest at the moment is updating your graphics card drivers... just install fresh ones to see if that helps...

now when starting my game up, it flashes between black screens then come up with an error saying dirctx has reached an unrecoverable error, ive tried to reinstall it but that didnt help, all my drivers are up to date and my directx version is 9.0 c which is recommended, please help

tried that, no hope, i went to my control panel and tested dx and it wont run in 640x480 @ 16bit, is this the cod4 default??

after reformatting my PC, looking around and trying other games ive found out that its something to do with direct x, ive tried reinstalling it but that wont work, is there anything left i can do?

exactly the same issue!! turned gfx right down and did everything I can think of, no joy

you completely reformatted right? you didn't just reinstall the OS over your old one...

when i used to get freeze's that was because a stick of RAM was faulty, if u got 2 sticks maybe take 1 out and see how it goes.

or is it Only CoD4 making u freeze? freeze
