Video File Format

Which of the following is the best file format to convert DVDs into at 480 x 320 so you can put them on the iTouch?

.m4v
.mp4
.mov

I'm looking for the one that will take up the least amount of space.

Yup .mp4..I think itunes does it automatically for you though..I havent doner it in ages...Just use a converter that would work with PSP..same format..Same size..

Google: Videora iPod touch Converter - best one ever, knows dual core and uses both of them to the max, movie looks great after on the iTouch, movies converted are around 300-500mb for me so far.

At what size? I'm currently using "#1 DVD Ripper" to convert DVD's to .mp4's and the file size is coming out to 800MB-1GB at the iTouch default resolution (480 x 320). And, that's only for like 1HR 40M videos. I'm scared to convert Transformers which is 2HR 30M...

I'll try that Videora program and see what results I get.

Edit: I'm already having trouble with the Videora one. I go into the "VIDEO_TS" folder and see a bunch of .VOB files. How do I know which file is the full movie?

It's only for .wmv, .avi files etc

The videora converter is excellent and I use this: http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/ for ripping DVD's.

My MP4 file for Transformers is 917Mb. If you want something smaller, tough luck. That's why I kept my 80GB iPod.

I'm converting Transformers right now and it says it's estimated as 1238MB. 80GB iPod is nice, but I like the bigger screen on the iPod Touch.

Do any of you guys know some good websites that have some nice games and applications for the the iPod Touch?

They'll be coming in around two weeks with v2 of the iPhone/iTouch with the "App Store"; http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/features/appstore.html - Even tho that says iPhone people are saying it will be for the iTouch also.

I foudn that if you used the 512k option form videora rather than 768k it reduced teh file size by a third without losing any quality.

Some of them will be free, but the update may cost to get the App Store.

ConvertXtoDVD3 is the only DVD software i ever use because it has the biggest range of files that it can convert.

I always use it for .mkv files :)
