    need help!! Pc probs

    only forum I can access on my itouch...
    Earlier today my power surged for a second and I can't boot now... The pc turns on and the cd drive works, but it won't boot - can't even get to bios.
    My mobo is a dfi nf4 series board and Is displaying 3 out of 4 diagnostic lights. I'm trying to do as much research as I can but its hard on the itouch.
    if anybody can help do some research or problem solving for possible fixes it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    **when all 4 lights are on it means that there's been a successful system startup - so I'm not sure what that may mean in fixing the pc.

      Ok try to find your mobo booklet and find where it says about clearing the CMOS or CLTRL jumpers...You need to remove the little circle battery on the mobo and move the jumpers from position 1-2 to position 2-3...Then wait about 15 secs..Move them back to 1-2 and put the CMOS battery back in....Again read in your mobo instruction booklet..Coz its different on different mobos..

          As mentioned grab your Motherboard manual and see what it says about the diagnostic lights. You'll most likely need to clear the CMOS, again details for this will be in your manual and can be different for each mobo.

          Did you say it was a power surge? As in from your mains electricity?

              Finally managed to get ahold of a laptop.

              Yes, the power surged (storms ) and the PC kicked out for half a second at most then turned right back on... but it wouldn't boot.

              I've tried resetting the CMOS everyway imaginable, resetting the battery, using the jumper cables, etc. but it still won't boot. I think my Motherboard just finally bit the dust.

              Saving up for a new computer, needed an upgrade anyways. :dead:

                      Yeppers sure does, Might want to think about buying a Belkin plug strip and a well branded PSU next time (If you didn't the last time).
