im not too sure about soundcards, but ive also noticed that im going to need an operating system, i can get Vista Home Premium 64Bit for £72 from a local computershop, the cost for the OS wont be included in the £650.

Yeah. You need to replace that XtremeAudio with either an XtremeGamer or XtremeMusic (Same specs except XtremeMusic is full height whilst XtremeGamer is half height).

An example is if you have an XtremeAudio, you won't be able to play BF2 on X-Fi mode. It's sneaky tricks by Creative making you think you're buying an X-Fi, whereas in reality all you are getting is a rebranded Audigy.

If you can find it cheap, the Asus Xonar DX is also fine.

I say forget the soundcard and concentrate on the main components of your PC. Save yourself some money and buy the extra goodies later just get the essentials for now and stay with the default sound the comes with the mobo.

If you were going to pay £30 for an XtremeAudio, i doubt it's that taxing to find another £20 to get the XtremeMusic.

What i was/am trying to say, that a sound card is needless at this point. Sure it enhances your games, music, and videos, but do you really need it, or do you want it. There is difference. I would pass on the extra cost for now.

Concentrate on your Ram, Mobo, GFX, Cooling, CPU, PSU, Case etc. A sound card is the least of your worries. I had never had a sound card in my life except for those default ones that came witht he mobo. Tbqh i am still happy with out one.

ill probaby leave the soundcard out, as ive never had one, and as my friend said i dont need one unless i want high quality surround sound, if needs be i can upgrade it at a later date
