GeForce 9600 GSO - The New Midrange

As far as I know, this card is not available yet, but will be very soon at an expected price of $99 US, roughly £50 UK.

Essentially, the 9600 GSO is a rebranded 8800 GS. However, at this card's new price point, this is an amazing deal for casual and budget gamers. Hopefully it will replace the relatively underpowered 8600 series.

This is a very, very, very loud card. It compares to the old 7600gt stock coolers when on 100%!

For most, thats a small price to pay for a good midrange card.

BTW, Alex, the cooler on the GSO is different from the GS, so do you mean the old cooler on the 8800 GS or the new one on the 9600 GSO?

Oh, i didn't see the new cooler on it. Hopefully that will be better on the ears and temps.

this card is just a remake of the 8800GS. the specs are identical. The price is basically the same, since the 8800GS was always around $100 and even got down to $89 one time

So is there anything different from this and the 8800GS? Cooler, casings? I can get a 8800GS for $80 right now.

btw what core is it using? G92 I assume?

They're not 9 series anymore. They'll be the GTX200 series with a GTX280 and GTX260. Just search them in google. There's quite a bit of confirmed information, including specs. ATI are releasing similar cards branded as the 4000 series (4850, 4870, 4870X2). These cards look good on paper so hopefully they live up to their expectations. Something like 512bit memory bandwidth last time I checked and the nvidia cards are supposed to have the new build-in physx
