I left my PC on today to defrag while I was at school. I came home and it was still defragmenting? I tried again but the defrag just hangs. I used a third party one and it's all good. I'm just wondering if any of you vista users out there have the same problem?

Yeah, I get the same problem. It also doesn't tell you the progress or eta, it just goes on for ever! This problem needs to be seriously looked at.

Re: Windows Vista Defrag is made of fail
The latest issue of MaximumPC just had some testing and benchmarks on defraging. Vista's defrag actually beat out other programs including diskkeeper and perfectdisk, even though they said vista defrag's gui sucked."Crunch's First Officer"

Yep, Vista automates a large amount of things that users would have to run manually or don't know about in XP, which is why the resource usage is so high.

Diskeeper is just about the best defrag program I've ever used.
