    Are these good PSUs?

I'm pretty sure the Antec and Thermaltake ones are okay, but I'm not sure about the Coolermaster.

Anyways, I'm not afraid of spending more for the PSU when I upgrade, I don't want a no-name brand or a cheap one. So if you have better reccomandations for the 500w range, post them please.

I don't know about the coolermaster, but Antec and Thermaltake are good/OK.
But here's the PSU I bought:

I'd pick the Thermaltake outta the 3 shown. The Antec would be ok (based on what I've heard, never used one myself).

As stated above, Corsair is also an excellent, err, I mean 'sexerlent' brand.

The best choice i have seen, i would go with Corsair :) But Antec, Cooler master, Zalman OCZ and ThrmlTk are perfectly good. But i would prefer a modular psu if you catch my drift.

If you want the best, Corsair is the way to go. And they don't have a stupid price to match it's performance :)

              Those three are OK....

              Corsair 450VX

              Antec EarthWatts 430W

I can recommend those two ^^

Corsair's VX is good, but the HX (the one I posted :p ) is the high-end/gaming level one.

Plus, he should definitely stay above 500 watts. It'll allow more wiggle room for other future upgrades. :)

Meh. Since the OP posted 3 PSUs in the $60-70 range, I assumed that that was his budget.

The 450VX is a good choice. The 520HX isn't worth it if cost is an issue. The 450VX has the same build quality as the HX series AFAIK. Again, in this budget range, a top-notch 500W unit is difficult to find. If the OP can afford more, certainly get the 520HX, but if the OP can't, then I think the 450VX is the best choice. But that's me.

Theoretically, you could safely run an 8800GT SLI system with an OCed C2D on 450W. Safely meaning 24/7 100% load no problems. So anything less than that is perfectly safe. If the system is more powerful than 8800GT SLI, than more than $70 is needed for the PSU. Bottom Line: for $70, Corsair's 450VX is the best you're gonna get.

When it comes to the PSU's, it is always worth it to spend the extra money for a better one. In this case that would be spending an extra $40 to get the 520W Corsair.

^^ Yep, tbqh i would definitely go with Corsair. A modular one at that.

Hmmmm. I don't think the 520HX is any "better" than the 450VX. Obviously they differ in wattages, but that doesn't make one better than the other. Those two PSUs area in two different price ranges, and their wattages are different accordingly. In terms of quality, I say they are equal. Both units are manufactured by Seasonic. And it not like the extra 70W makes a significant difference. If you are pushing the limits of a 450W PSU, you'd be running the 520HX at 87%, which isn't much better. I still stand by my advice:

No hard feelings, just a difference of opinion!

I'm quite sure Corsair themselves market the HX as higher quality components. For example I could get a BFG 8600GT but just because it has the same manufacturer doesn't make it equal in quality or performance to my 8800GT.

Also, the OP stated he wants over 500 watts. Even if 450 is enough he wouldn't have any room for upgrading to other more consuming, yet better components, i.e. some "wiggle" room extremely nice to have.

The HX is modular, the VX is not.

                              HX is better (OP).
