So I'm trying to get a setup for my friend, that's decent enough to play some good games but is also low budget. This is what I currently have:

I know most of you know MUCH more than me about building PC's and could probably come up with a much better setup. The budget is up to $700 US. He would prefer the parts come from Tigerdirect, but you can post Newegg setups if you'd like - or just certain parts to exchange. If you have an AMD setup that's better and cheaper, please post that up too. Include URL's too, please!

I advise spending some more on the graphics card, a 9600GT or 8800GT are both high-performing GPU's and can be purchased for reasonable prices.

I'd save a bit more and upgrade the video card like skaggy said.
Also, I would never go with the PSU that comes with a case. They are cheaper and not as reliable as better brands like corsair or antec. A bad PSU can ruin your whole PC>

Everything else is decent though.

Listen to Jake, he is quite right on that fact, as for the 86, don't buy it its a waste of money i would advise your friend to wait and save up a bit more.

Well he's not that involved into high performance gaming and all so he doesn't need the best parts for his setup. He really only plays Americas Army and Counter-Strike Source right now, nothing else.

But I'm going to talk to him, and look up some parts on Newegg as well.

Yea, it's just for the same price you can get better cards than the 8600. I'll leave this to the US folk though.

An 8800GT is not the best parts for a set up, its just that the 8600GT is just about the worst you can do.
Here is a 8800GT for only $40 than the 8600 you listed. You'll be literally doubling you're performance easily.

A core 2 duo is the best processor you can get at the moment. :)

The 8600 series is dead. 9600GTs are going as low as $130 now. HD 3650s have the same performance for 70 bucks. So save up for a bit and get a 9600GT.
